On Wednesday 22nd November 2017 the Cantab Capital Institute for the Mathematics of Information (CCIMI) held an Industry engagement day, showcasing the research being carried out at the Institute and presenting an opportunity to hear in detail about some of the current project collaborations, other industry challenges and explore new potential collaborations.

The event included a series of talks highlighting  research taking place at CCIMI, with talks from CCIMI lecturers Hamza Fawzi and Quentin Berthet.  Alongside these were presentations from associated industrial engagements, looking to explore the big questions in data science where mathematics is most suited to help provide answers, with talks from google Deep Mind and Tesco, and further presentations highlighting projects being developed in collaboration with the CCIMI and partners such as with Unilever, NPL and Cantab Capital Partners.

There was the opportunity to present at a poster exhibition, which ran during the lunch and the networking sessions and the event closed with a facilitated panel session featuring the days speakers discussing how academia and industry can better collaborate on the challenges presented during the day.  The event was then followed by a drinks reception.

The event was delivered in collaboration with the Turing Gateway to Mathematics, and the programme, including recordings of many of the talks can be found on their website.
