Mathematics of Electron Microscope Tomography

The aim is to describe the mathematics associated with electron tomography, a 3D imaging modality based on electron microscopy data. Focus will be on weakly scattering biological specimens, in which case electron tomography becomes a phase contrast tomographic imaging modality. The emphasis is to (a) introduce the forward model, (b) describing the inverse problem and its associated difficulties, and© point to some mathematical developments related to addressing these difficulties.
